I dreamt of mermaids throughout the spring.
I decided that maybe if I finish this piece, I’ll finally have the energy for my homework. Just maybe.
Color practice. I was working on the computer for most of the day on requests, but my digital skills are still kind of rough, so I decided just to mess with traditional instead.
Watercolor base with colored pencil on top. It’s actually quite effective, am thinking about refining it and then offering commissions like this.

A VOTRE SANTE is a full color collaborative artbook featuring 18 talented artists from around the world, and focusing on the themes of alcoholic drinks and beautiful men. Some of them chose to personify the drink as a human figure, while others took the theme as a prompt for a narrative. The artistic styles and influences featured in this collection are as varied as the choices of alcoholic beverages, each flourishing with their own individualistic notes and colors.
A Votre Sante debuted at Yaoi-Con 2011 and is a limited run of 100 books.

I was asked to participate in an amazing project called “A Votre Sante.” 18 outstanding artists collaborated to create an impressive collection of character illustrations based on what certain alcoholic drinks meant to them.
